Sales is Not a Dirty Word...

Sales gets misunderstood a lot.
People think it’s persuasion, pressure, convincing someone to say yes. But the longer I’ve been in it, the more it feels like something else entirely.
Sales is a mutual exchange of energy.
It’s not “how do I get you to buy this?” It’s “is this aligned with what you actually need right now?”
When it’s done right, nobody is being pushed. Both sides are choosing. Both sides are participating. Both sides are walking away with something they value.
That’s why it starts to feel almost spiritual.
Because you’re not just exchanging money for a product or service. You’re exchanging trust, timing, clarity, and intention.
And when those things are in alignment, it doesn’t feel like selling at all. It feels like truth landing in the right place at the right time.
There’s also something grounding about accepting that not every interaction is meant to convert. Some are just meant to clarify. Some are meant to connect. Some are simply not aligned — and that’s okay too.
That’s the part people miss when they over-optimize for “closing.” You lose the human in it. And ironically, you lose the sale too.
As Mark Cuban once said:

Because that idea captures it perfectly — when it's a WIN-WIN, the inspired exchange ties this whole thing together.
At its best, sales isn’t taking. It's resonance.
And when it’s aligned, it feels like both sides already knew the answer, you’re just helping it become clear.
In elevation,
Maie
